Staten

Security

Your data stays on your computer.

Files are never uploaded. The optional assistant sees the shape of your study, never the people in it.

01

Assistant off

No connections, no account, no telemetry. Maps download tiles only when you ask.

02

Assistant on

It never gets rows or cells. You choose Strict, Standard or Results, and can read each message before it goes.

03

Numbers

Always computed by Staten, never by the model. Data changes wait for your OK and can be undone.

04

Project documents

A task, codebook or protocol you add is read only when the assistant needs it, and only the parts it asks for.

05

POET and embeddings

Only when you start them, and only the text column you chose.

06

Fully local

Use Ollama, or import vectors, and nothing leaves your computer.

For your ethics committee

“No participant data leaves my computer; I approve and can undo every step.”

About

Made by a statistician who needed it.

I am a statistician and mathematician, a graduate of the Faculty of Mathematics in Belgrade. I have worked on data from medicine, psychology, geography, politics and sport.

At university I started with R and fell for R Markdown. A few years later I moved to Python and Jupyter notebooks, and was struck by how Python makes statistics something you can connect to everything else, where R is more of an ecosystem of its own.

Then I worked as a contractor and freelancer, mostly on social-science projects, doctoral theses and research papers. There I learned that the way results are formatted, and the freedom to make small changes, decide whether work is usable. For more complex models I used JASP, jamovi and SPSS, and kept being frustrated by the quality of their graphs, how little you can adjust, and how much retyping into Word it takes.

I built Staten first of all to help myself. I use it every day and keep extending it.

Like everyone, I use AI more and more. What I do not like is not being able to check, edit or change what it did with the data, even when I understand exactly what is happening. I am not a fan of vibe statistics. That is why the assistant in Staten keeps your data private and works as an assistant, not as the head of the project: every number comes from Staten, and every step can be seen, approved and undone.
